David was born and raised in Winnipeg. His curling began at the age of 6, curling in the “jam pail” league at the local legion. Curling really hit the “big leagues” when in his first year of junior curling he was in a league organized by the curling legend, Don Duguid (the last back-to-back world champions prior to Team Ferbey!)

With some moderate success in curling growing up in Winnipeg, David moved to Edmonton in the spring of 1997 to look for engineering work. This move proved to be beneficial to his curling career as he was able to hook up with another legend, Randy Ferbey. This meeting was the beginning of the current Ferbey 4.

David was also lucky enough to meet his wife, Heather (nee Godberson), through common friends in the curling community. David and Heather were married on August 28, 1999, at a resort owned by Neill and Kris Nedohin in Eastern Manitoba. Halle Nedohin was born on June 26, 2002. Throughout all of the success of Team Ferbey, Halle has been the highlight of David’s life to this point!

Another one of David’s interests surrounds the summer sport of waterskiing. Although David has competed in a number of different waterskiing activities, barefoot waterskiing was were he excelled. David has been a national champion several times over the last 15 years, including being selected for the National Team between every year between 1991 and 1998, and as most recently as 2003. David was part of the Canadian Team that won the only team bronze medal at the 1992 World Championships, just outside of London, England.

David has felt very privileged to have an opportunity to curl with his three team mates. They will be life long friends on, and off the ice. The chemistry of this team has been the backbone to the success they have had to this point, and hopefully will continue through the Edmonton Brier, and into the Olympics Trials in December, 2005!
