When Charley Thomas and Brett Gallant traded three straight spectacular shots through a tiny port, all with perfect weight, viewers knew the 2007 Canadian Juniors Men’s final would be filled with stellar curling and come right down to the wire. 
 
After all was said and done, Team Alberta stood victorious after a suspense-filled final that needed an extra end for Alberta to put up a 7-6 score and win their second straight Canadian Juniors. 

The final was full of momentum turning shots, most often by the two skips.
 
A pivotal moment came late in the seventh end. After Thomas threw a perfect in-off to lie two with his last rock leaving Gallant a draw, Team Gallant swept too hard and the last stone was slightly heavy giving Thomas a two-point steal to go up 5-4. 
 
In the ninth end, tied at 5-5, Thomas had an angle tapback for two, but despite hard Alberta sweeping, the stone curled too much and the shooter rolled out giving Thomas a single for the 6-5 lead.
 
Then with his last rock in the tenth, Thomas made a critical double takeout which forced Gallant to draw to the four-foot for one point and force an extra end. 
 
In the eleventh end, Gallant needed to make a difficult tapback just to force a draw to the four-foot for Thomas, who already had shot rock and the hammer. Gallant’s final stone didn’t curl enough, and Alberta’s last shot wasn’t necessary. 

If there is any consolation for Team Gallant, it’s in the fact that they took the best Junior Men’s team in the world to an extra end, and all played extremely well throughout the tournament and the game. 
 
Not only that, but there’s plenty of time for the young team to get back to the Juniors as they are all 17 and under.
