Heather was born in Fort St. John, BC, July 15, 1975. Heather grew up on a farm just north of Fort St. John. Heather was exposed to curling at a young age. First helping her Mom wash windows and take care of the Fort St. John Rink. Then, after she had watched enough to learn the game, she laced up her boots. First, she mastered the Fort St. John farmers' league at the age of eight and then went on to try her hand at competitive curling at the age of 11. She competed in a total of four British Columbia Provincials before moving to Grande Prairie to attend the Grande Prairie Regional College.
During her two years with the College, Heather skipped the women's team to two ACAC Gold Medals and was selected as the all-star skip both seasons, as well as the c0-winner of the Female Athlete of the Year in 1994-95. In 1996, she was the skip of the Alberta championship rink that swept to victory in the Canadian Junior and World Junior Championships. Heather was honored as the all-star skip at the Canadian Championship.
The next step saw her playing third on the rink that was the 1997 & 1998 Alberta Champions and the 1998 Canadian Champions.
Heather's stellar play at the Canadians earned her a selection to the second team all-star team in 1997 & 1998. Her Team Canada rink then placed third at the 1998 World Championships and also earned a gold medal at the Olympic Commemorative Games in Nagano in 1999. Heather team Canada rink finished a close second at the 1999 Canadian Championships and she was chosen to the first team all-star third.
For the 1999-2000 season, Heather reunited with her former World Junior championship rink and captured the 2000 Alberta Ladies Provincial Championships in Grande Prairie. The team placed 5th at the Scott Tournament of Hearts.
Heather received a Bachelor of Physical Education degree in 1997 of the University of Alberta. David and Heather were married on August 28, 1999. She is currently a full time mom raising two lovely little girls, Halle & Alyssa.
